HarborCity Information Center

The boiler house is the link between the historical warehouse quarter and the HarborCity. Formerly the energy center for the warehouse quarter, today it houses the HarborCity model on a scale of 1:500. The model illustrates building phases to the present, future plans and the numerous economic relationships that the HarborCity maintains with the rest of the city.

11:15
HarborCity

Hamburgs´s spectacular maritime quarter is being constructed opposite the historic warehouses. Particularly attractive is that the HarborCity borders an active harbor that is and will remain an important part of Hamburg’s economy.

The overseas quarter is the HarborCity’s central quarter and is projected for com- pletion in 2014, providing apartments for 1,000 people and 7,000jobs.

Large companies like the Spiegel magazine and Unilever have already moved into their buildings here which were constructed ac- cording to sustainable, energy-saving standards, for which they have been rec- ognized with the label HarborCity-Gold.

14:00
Elbe Philharmonic

After ten years of planning and construc- tion Hamburg’s new architectonical land mark was inaugurated in 2016.

On a roof terrace you will be informed about the building phases and special fea- tures of the Elbe Philharmonic. The concert house has been erected on top of a historic warehouse dock – a former cacao, tea and tobacco storage lot in the middle of Ham- burg’s harbor.

The building was designed by the interna- tionally renowned architectural firm of Her- zog & de Meuron from Basel.

15:30
Am Kaiserkai 56

Initiator and project management took over the town citizens AG. The town citi- zens AG secures land, initiates projects and leads interested parties to a construc- tion collective together. The AG takes over for all of their initiated projects the entire support of the collective and does the pro- ject management of property acquisition to the billing of the final invoice.
Objective here was to realize an urban in- ner-city living on the water. The town citi- zens AG took over the organization of the construction collective with a project of 25 apartments from 90 m² to 225 m², includ- ing lift and underground parking.
The house includes retail units, restau- rants, and flats. The interior layout of the units can be changed variable.

16:00
Boat trip: Architecture and urban de- velopment

During the journey, you will get to know the architectural highlights, but also the hidden and the no less important concepts for recent urban development. You will be surprised at what appears before your eyes, starboard, port and aft:

Elbphilharmonie, a new harbor crown of St. Pauli, busy harbor streets, parking, Eu- rope’s largest folding bridge, hybrid hous- es, residential park instead of olympics, floating offices, new logistics concepts, in- dustrial settlements from Rolls Royce to Airbus and Smart Harbor with windmills, fuel cell technology and a new cruise ter- minal.

Dag 3 – 30 augusti
09:30
Algae and Smartprice Houses

The algae house and the water house are exceptional buildings in the new center of Wilhelmsburg. Here one can see how bio- mass is gained from the external facades and continually fed in to meet the energy needs of the houses.

Water houses and SmartPriceHouses demonstrate how new construction materi- als will give buildings a surprising new face in the future.

11:15
Urban development in Hamburg-East

The mayor of Hamburg has initiated a strategy for the future named “Moving up- stream along the Elbe and Bille. Living and urban production in the east of Hamburg”. This Urban-Vision outlined the results of the analysis and the potential of Hamburg- Ost in a supplementary comprehensive planning.
